CARES Act CDBG-CV Public Meeting - July 22, 7 PM

Notice is hereby given that the City of New Kensington will hold a Public Meeting on July 22, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. via the Zoom virtual platform. To access the meeting, log in at: https://zoom.us/join. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the use of additional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funds that are intended to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the corona virus pandemic. Activities must primarily benefit low and moderate income persons. New Kensington proposes to use the grant funds of $193,732 as follows:

ACTIVITY, AMOUNT, NATIONAL OBJECTIVE

Public Services:

---Transportation Services, $30,000, Low-Mod Area

---Fire Department Supplies, $70,000, Low-Mod Area

Economic Development:

Economic Recovery Programming, $58,861, Low-Mod Jobs

Program Administration, $34,871

TOTAL USE OF FUNDS: $ 193,732

The proposed allocation provides 100% of funds that benefit low mod income persons. The proposed activities will not cause displacement. City Council may approve the CDBG CV application at the general business meeting on August 3, 2020 at City Hall, 301 11th St. New Kensington, PA. Please note that if it becomes required to hold this meeting virtually, notice regarding this change, as well as access information, will be posted on the City’s website at: www.newkensingtonpa.org.

All interested parties are invited to attend the public meeting and give oral testimony at the public meeting or present written comments concerning the needs of the community, proposed CDBG CV activities, the prior use of funds, as well as the CDBG program in general.
